Digital SLR for Beginners

I do not grow tired of repeating the all Digital SLR Cameras today can take excellent pictures no matter what the brand is. What then would be the benchmark for choosing the best digital slr camera? I recommend two things to consider: budget and feelings.

Of course you have to consider your budget. It would be a disaster to go for the most expensive camera when your lifestyle cannot afford it. You wouldn't want to starve over a camera do you? But if you have all the money to spare, then go for the latest and most expensive.

Whether you're on a shoe string budget or a sky's the limit spending spree, you will still have to decide which digital slr camera to take. Let us for now think that you are after a brand new digital slr. Also assume that you are after the latest the top manufacturers have to offer on cameras for a beginner.

My experience involves digital slr cameras from Pentax, Nikon and Canon only. There are other brands out there which perform equally good but I cannot vouch for them. I have selected the top digital slr camera from each brand for beginners. I've also had the opportunity to take a few shots using them.

All of them...

  • have high image quality
  • have durable constructions (plastic/aluminum)
  • are easy to lightweight

You won't go wrong with any of them. But we have to to choose the camera that delivers the best set of features. Take time to review the comprehensive test by DXO on these three digital slr cameras.  Also get some insights on the video I've provided.

So which one is for me? I'll take the Pentax K-R.
